Game in Moncton
The Storm fell to Moncton tonight in their second away game for the week. Final score was 110-95.
The injuries of some top players did not help Summerside. Mike Williams was put out early in the first, adding to the injured list of Gilchrese, Cayole and Julian Allen, who injured his back in yesterday’s game against Halifax.
The top performance for the Storm went to Stephen McDowell with 24 points and Trayvon Lathan with 27 for Moncton.
Doug McKinney Ready For Minutes
Islander Doug McKinney may be seeing more floor time in this week’s home game against Halifax on Thursday night.
The Storm will be down to nine players due to a slew of injuries, including Mike Williams with a dislocated shoulder and Julian Allen with a lower back strain, both suffered in Halifax Sunday afternoon. Williams and Allen join team mates Chris Cayole and Eric Gilchrese who are still out of play.
With Williams out, the Storm could potentially look to McKinney to be of help on the inside against Halifax’s big man Richard Anderson.
Coach Salerno had this to say in regards to McKinney’s performance last night’s performance in Moncton:
“Doug played hard in Moncton, all of our guys who were there played hard being so short handed. No one on this team showed any quit, and a lot of fight, including Doug. He rebounded the ball well, and was aggressive defensively. Hopefully he can carry some of that momentum over to Thursday’s game”.
